Can you see what time it is?

I wish I could offer some useful advice on how the world works, but I can’t, because the world now works in a way opposed to reason. It rewards stupidity and fraud. You become wealthy by being famous and you become famous by being insane.

We’re in the middle of an enormous economic bubble, but anyone who bets on its end is ruthlessly punished. It has already gone on much longer than it should have. Since the great recession, the decision was essentially made that we can’t afford to have recessions anymore. This means that when the system does implode, the consequences will be far more catastrophic, as we’ve gone years without the sort of forest fire that gets rid of the dry timber stacking up around us.

The best example of dry timber would probably be Tesla. There’s no point in arguing over this, people who want to believe won’t be persuaded otherwise. But if you have eyes to see, you realize we’re looking at an Enron scandal times eleven, as Enron was only worth 130 billion dollar at its peak in today’s money, while Tesla is worth 1.5 trillion dollar right now.

“B-b-b-but… Tesla has dancing robots!!! And Elon Musk is going to build a base on Mars!!!”

-Low IQ low status white males

We talk a lot here about what the damage from climate change is going to be, but I honestly expect a massive global economic implosion due to widespread fraud, long before the climate impacts reveal themselves.

We don’t really live in a world right now where you can win by being smarter or better than others. It’s a kleptocratic kakistocracy in which we live. We have a president now who wants to annex Greenland because he didn’t get a Nobel peace prize.

I don’t feel like explaining everything we face, from the declining EROI of our energy sources, to the Tesla fraud, to the AI bubble, to the climate catastrophe unfolding, because it’s obvious by now and if you don’t see it yet, it’s because you don’t want to see it.

But I do feel like pointing out that putting morons in charge is loads of fun, until they touch and break something in this complex machine we inhabit that actually does matter. You can’t make any realistic plans for the future in our society today, because things are quite clearly beginning to break down.

Take a good look at what’s happening to silver and gold right now. That doesn’t happen under normal societal circumstances. It’s what happens when the building is on fire and people are quietly headed for the exit doors. It’s a clear signal that people are clinging onto things they expect will maintain value in the event of the implosion of our economic system.

Now it’s true that low status white males have a bias to see everything breaking down. But I don’t think that business as usual can continue for much longer, as everyone is losing faith in the system.

Trump is pushing the Zionist Greater Israel project – because Trump is a crypto Jew (Russian Chabad Lubavitch background). A part of this plan is for the US to economically, financially, socially and militarily disconnect from the EU – permanently. This is the underlying purpose of the Meh Greenland thing. Trump will invade. All EU countries will then also terminate their military base contracts with the US and kick the US out of NATO. This is what Trump’s handlers want.

Harrold

I agree. He’s trying to break up nato. As an added bonus, all those european countries jailing people for speech are nobody’s friend.

Wombat

Is he trying to break up NATO, or is it just a failure? I have heard it said that the point of NATO was to keep the Americans in, Germany down, and the Russians out. Well, here we are, and the Americans look dead set on stealing Europe’s heirloom silverware at the cost of its alliances, the Germans have said they are keen to rearm themselves to become the greatest military in Europe (probably dooming themselves – old Wotan rides again), and the Russians seem unlikely to want to invade the place – what for? Europe hasn’t got much in the way of resources, and it’s full of people who hate them. Sounds like NATO might be a project that has just run its course:

Wombat

Things are getting really ‘interesting’ aren’t they? All of those international organisations and treaties and whatever else are going to get thrown up in the air. Who knows if any will land on their feet? I’m sure this is a tired thing to say, but this must be how things felt in the lead up to a world war. I mean, pick your flashpoint that it all could cascade from. NATO in a proxy war with a nuclear armed great power, ‘friction’ between America and China, the Iranians, a resilient people, under threat, and representing a threat to the master resource that the whole capitalist empire requires – the spice must flow. It’s a shitshow all right, no doubt about it. If I lived in a hot zone, I’d be pondering how many gold sovereigns I could stick up my arse if I had to take the last ship to a safe harbour.

Apaliunas

Hi, Wombat!
I’m inclined to think that he just wants Canada… Canada has vast resources. And is scarcely populated. Of course, that also means that he doesn’t care about NATO (as it is, at least).
Greenland connects Canada and Europe.
By annexing Canada they think that USA will become much stronger and able to confront or find an equilibrium with Russia and China (so, they want to advance their position).
And if you think about it, Hillary Clinton mentioned that they wanted Russia’s vast resources, but Russia proved too tough for them, so they’re heading against their allies.
I don’t know what they have in store for the rest of Europe.
I have to admit it is fun seeing those (Europeans) who humiliated others being humiliated now, but it’s not that simple. USA is probably the most revisionist power of recent times.

Wombat

Why not both? I recall Trump making noises about Canada as well. Today though he is saying America won’t militarily invade Greenland and stocks are up. No doubt Trump will continue to follow the logic of whatever is most profitable and convenient to his interests – wherever that may lead. If that happens to be in a direction that is beneficial to anybody or anything else, well, that’s just a happy and fortunate coincidence.

by George Sivrides: “Suddenly, some have now discovered that they are not allies of the USA but vassals, despite dozens of examples over the past century where the US treated its allies harshly. From the Great War loans and Roosevelt’s refusal of a trade treaty (America First), to the dollar-centrism of Bretton Woods, the dismantling of the sterling area and Suez, the US’s non-compliance with the GATT which they themselves founded, and the tariff ‘chicken war’ with the EEC (1963); naturally, Nixon’s devaluation of the dollar, the Plaza Accords, etc. After ’90, EU countries followed a passive behavior, not only supporting US wars (such as in Yugoslavia) but primarily allowing the US to plant the ‘evil seed’ of (neo)liberalism and the financialization of European economies through the Euro (which, not coincidentally, is always maintained at a higher value than the dollar). This was also supported ideologically by liberal think tanks and NGOs (that is their job). Green growth, Gay Prides, gay marriage—all came from the USA, even as direct mandates. The final acts were the dismantling of the opposite side of the Mediterranean with the ‘Arab Spring’ and the severance of the energy relationship with Russia. When the Bourgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline… Read more »

The Europeans have frittered away their moral and material heirloom silverware and is nothing but a nice museum. There’s nothing left for Trump to take, which is why he wants out. Its alliances! That’s a joke, right? Allies are supposed to have a common interest. Where is that common interest today? And the Russians, who have struggled for four years to take eastern Ukraine inch by inch, meter by meter, at great human and material cost, are now going to roll over Europe? Come on, no one is really that stupid. But we can agree on one thing – Nato has run its course. If Europe, with at least twice the population and ten times the GDP of the Big Bad Bear can’t defend themselves against it, it’s because they don’t want to.

Excellent!

I see some of the old, pre-hiatus posts have been restored. Thanks!

I’d say keep putting them back up. This blog definitely had a niche as the biggest NK-cell fan site on the Web.

There is a guy on X, @ZachariasPro, who scares me more than AI, Trump and WW3 together. According to him, the core-mantel decoupling is happening now. He wrote three papers about it, here is paper 3:

Ken White – World in Peril.
The government of the USA knows this since the late 1950s.
This WILL happen, but nobody knows exactly when.

I am well and truly fucked, basically, when the pole shift eventually happens. I live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific at 3 feet above sea level. I fuck fat horny islander women, who’s husbands could not be bothered to fuck because they are drunk or hung over all the time. I do have a small aluminum boat with an outboard motor for fishing. I might survive, who knows – but which women to take in the boat?

The presumption that implicitly underpins your thinking is that capitalism is supposed to be rational or moral. It isn’t – and it never was. Capitalism is not a system governed by reason or ethics. It is a system governed by capital accumulation, operating beyond meaningful human control. What you are seeing are not insane distortions, but the system functioning normally – only now the narratives and myths that once disguised it are crude, threadbare, or in tatters. Those myths have become inconvenient to profit, and events are now moving under their own momentum as the old order comes apart and a new one forms. There is no longer enough time to manufacture believable propaganda for each fresh obscenity. Capital has no decency and no loyalty – not to alliances, not to nations, not even to reality itself. It is loyal only to profit. Under these conditions, Machiavellian grabs for everything should be expected – including Greenland. Trump is not an aberration or a failure of capitalism. He is an honest representation of it – a kind of capitalist avatar. For all his pathologies, he instinctively understands its rules and lives by them. You say it’s no longer possible to plan… Read more »

well we know how communism always ends – in tyranny of the masses by the oligarchy. Luckily any attempt at a reversion to communism, traditional or digital will be short lived due to energy depletion. When you have 8 billion depending on fossil fuel to eat what you will have when this baby blows is more akin to a mad max/the road scenario.
Advisors to Bank of England recently advocated preparation for chaos in the event of alien disclosure. You know they are desperate when the alien card is played.
Still who knows how long they can hold it together..

Wombat

That’s simply not true. Communism doesn’t always lead to tyranny – potlatch culture, for example. Tyranny isn’t unique to communism – look at today’s world, with its modern Caligula and totalitarian constraints on speech. Better not argue with Nurse Ratched, if you know what’s good for you. The alien thing is a wildcard. So is some kind of religious event – a miracle. Miracles can and do happen, like, say, the whole universe for example. But in default of a miracle, communism is the next best thing.

Wombat

On the fossil fuel depletion thing, or should I say depletion of affordable fossil fuels, especially transport fuels? Yeah, I agree, I suspect that it’s closer than many may think. New Zealand, for example, where rumour has it a lot of elites have built their doomsday bunkers, is running low on gas right now. New Zealand is not where I’d have picked a location for a doomsday bunker, but then I know how tough Māori can be from my time working bars. They make awesome bouncers – nothing quite like a naturally heavily muscled warrior to stamp out a ruckus. It’s amusing to imagine how techbros will fare when they get hungry. It really wasn’t all that long ago that they liked a bit of ‘long pig’ on the barbie.

As an experiment, you should try writing one optimistic post

Sullen Eyes

My friend, I have been screaming at you! This time has been upon us our entire earthly lives! You underestimate the severity. I teach you of the metaphysics of old, and the dreadful teachings by which such metaphysics judge the nowtide moment.

The Antichrist cometh. Woe is upon us. Chaos overfloweth from every crack! The time of our lives which beheld fun has ended. The dreadtruth is upon us! Woe to those fools who yet act as if the world is trudging along, mundane! Death! Evil! Stupidity!

Nothing will be spared!

Awake, ye!

Sullen Eyes

Beware, thou fool, for the word “fun” in itself is a wicked thing beyond the knowledge of modern man.

another great article by ‘Quark’.
will Japan be the trigger… dangerously close to the exponential phase..

Harrold

Exponential market movements are just investors adjusting to new information. In this case, it appears japan will no longer artificially manipulate it’s bond yields to zero. Don’t be a simp that thinks every change is another reason for dooms day.

Harrold

Gold and silver aren’t telling us anything more than when any other asset is bought up. The most popular investment strategy is just buying what ever is trending.

If markets were pricing in a currency devaluation, oil would be trending higher too. All commodities and stocks would, but especially oil. Yet oil has gone way down the past few months.

Wombat

Come on Harrold, Blind Freddy can see there is a global crisis going on – this is a major event – not just investors following a trend.

Charlie the Scorpion

Trump was talking about Greenland in his first term before he was passed up for a Nobel. America has been wanting to acquire Greenland for about two centuries now and Trump is determined to get it done as a big part of his legacy. He’s hoping it will eventually be known as Trumpland, the biggest addition to the landmass of the USA ever.
I hope it happens.

Wombat

Trump ‘the peacemaker’ – cackle.

Trump’s ‘Riviera by the Arctic’ – cackle.

Ha, ha, ha – gallows humour does tickle my funny bone.

Charlie the Scorpion

Wombat, tickle me this: Would the world be better off or worse off without the entanglements of NATO and all the trillion$ it’s costing us since the end of the Soviet Union?
Half the population of Greenland live in colorfully painted houses in the village of Nuuk, about the size of a small town in Alabama.

Wombat

After the Soviet Union collapsed, the western capitalist powers kept NATO as a force to exert their will and rules over weaker powers to help themselves make profits.  They could afford to keep it then, despite the cost, but it seems like there is some ‘testing’ of that expense now that global capitalism is under severe pressure from structural factors such as resource depletion, ecological limits, and ever-present diminishing returns.  Capitalism is in decline. As it declines it may well drop things that are ‘nice to have’ if it cannot afford them. Capitalism must make a profit and accumulate, or it will collapse. It looks like there are two camps in the west with different ideas about how to make a profit as things decline, as well as different ideas about who should get what share of the spoils. One camp is the more polished and bureaucratic EU-first style of capitalism, and the other camp is the more pragmatic nationalistic style of US-first capitalism. These two powers are feeling up each other’s muscles, wondering how they’d taste in the stew pot. We are entering into capitalism’s cannibalism phase. In the long run, my guess is that the EU style will prove to… Read more »

Sensitive Idiot, nobody cares what’s “ebic” in your tarded land of videogames played in yer mom’s basement.

The adults here are discussing world geopolitics where it matters, in the real world, where Greenland is soon to be acquired, no matter how much you skeered or offended, or how much you cry about it.

kareninca

He is going to be especially surprised when he is drafted. That is the way things are going no matter which party is in. His generation thinks that being out of shape or autistic or a drug user or a pacifist will keep them from being tossed on the battle field but in a real war it doesn’t work that way; a warm body is a warm body and they will just shoot you if you won’t pick up your gun. I think this is all bad but that is what I predict; we are due for that.

Charlie the Scorpion

Sensitive Idiot, I don’t believe AI or your videogames have anything to do with the issue of Trump wanting to possess Greenland.
It’s just another example of how far out of touch you are with the real world.
And I don’t believe you even believe 90% of the “clever nonsense” you spew.
Fuck off

There’s a room
We hang in space
It’s clear, cold
A dome light is all that remains
Helps split these days apart (1, 2, 3, 4)
Our low-res bodies sway
We watch these grains dissolve (4, 3, 2, 1)
Racing through the light
Today, we’re gonna taste beyond
Enchanted by what lies
What awaits our future
Realize as morning came
A brand-new phase upon (1, 2, 3, 4)
Our movement is starting to change
We let the mod begin (4, 3, 2, 1)
Racing through the light
Craving what awaits beyond
Enchantment in our eyes
We’re veering closer
Lift your eyes
Surprise, surprise, we made it
And you raise your eyes
Surprise, we’re finally through
Through, through
In a room
We end in
It’s clean
A dome light, all that remains
It splits these days apart (1, 2, 3, 4)
And our low-res bodies sway
We watch these grains dissolve (4, 3, 2, 1)

Final track on the album, perhaps for a reason…

Forget the Datura and DPH kiddos! There’s a new game in town

I agree that there’s a lot of Barnum and Bailey to Tesla, and I agree that AI looks like a bubble. But you are quite wrong about climate change – it’s the sort of scam that you feel Tesla is. And at least with Tesla one can decide not to buy their shares or one of their cars – with the climate change scam we are all taxed to pay for the subsidies, tax beaks, and grift.

mulga mumblebrain

Anthropogenic climate destabilisation caused by the greatest forcing of greenhouses gases into the atmosphere, and most rapid, in all planetary history is irrefutable, and the climate and weather disasters that will kill us off are already increasing. Yet lunatic fanatics like you STILL simply deny it all, for some sad, sick, sordid pathopsychological reasons.

dearieme

Actually, I deny it because I read the early papers and had suitable scientific education and experience to let me assess them. I have followed the development of the grift with interest; it remains as bogus as ever.

Mehen

dearieme, your online name sounds awfully familiar. Where might I have encountered you before?

Brian

What’s happening with silver is quite rational, at least once you accept the reality of the fiat bubble economy. Silver price has not reflected reality for decades but has been suppressed for decades. That suppression is now failing and the stark mismatch between supply, which is limited, and demand, which is exploding due to EV and tech demands, is correcting. It will overcorrect, as these things do. But until the Big Crash, don’t expect to see $20 silver again. Or $900 gold. Meanwhile, enjoy the ride.

Mehen

Indeed

The clouds prepare for battle
In the dark and brooding silence
Bruised and sullen stormclouds
Have the light of day obscured
Looming low and ominous
In twilight premature
Thunderheads are rumbling
In a distant overture
All at once, the clouds are parted
Light streams down in bright unbroken beams
Follow men’s eyes as they look to the skies
The shifting shafts of shining weave the fabric of their dreams

Nix that’ last song. Too optimistic

With all this talk of boats and land claims, this track seems like fun, if nothing else: The KLF – America: What Time Is Love? (Official Video)

Dario D.

People who argue about capitalism and communism in the abstract don’t get it. They are sets of rules for conducting the trade of labor and commodities and deciding who can and can’t participate in each transaction, sure but in the real world, trade (of goods, services, hours of labor, slaves etc) is about the customers. The world we have now is the one that satisfies the customer, whether that customer is a person, a government, a class etc.
Of course they eat up HFCS burgers, palm oil coffees, slot machines and rampant fraud, the customers the world actually has are people who don’t want to have to spend time with other humans for constructive social projects. People generally subconsciously hate each other and choose to buy burger+solitude combo meals. The customers for fraud, parties and news moguls who choose to purchase the enabling of fraud, are purchasing the partial fulfillment of their misanthropy. Love is the only exception to wanting solitude and it occurs infrequently at random.
