I never really paid any attention to the guy, because I always realized electric vehicles are a dead end, so I was never really interested in figuring out whether he’s a scam artist or not. But with every year that passes, it becomes easier to recognize the man as a scam artist. You could line up every man on the planet by the moment he figured out the guy is a swindler. The further down the line your husband finds himself, the lower his IQ happens to be.
It’s basically the adult version of Santa. You’re supposed to figure out on your own at some point that Santa does not exist. My younger brother never figured out Saint Nicholas (the original Dutch version) doesn’t exist, my mom told him, but since then he has always denied having failed to figure it out on his own. I would argue he is just more trusting than me, although I stopped hearing him sing praises of Musk over a decade ago, so I wouldn’t argue he’s stupid.
It’s pretty sad if your husband worships Donald Trump, but it’s much, much sadder, if he worships Elon Musk. If that’s the case, you truly are married to a low IQ low status white male. I understand it makes life much easier to have someone around the house who goes off to sit in an office somewhere 40 hours a week to pay the mortgage so you don’t have to, but it would be more dignified for you to set up an Only Fans or to sleep with your dog, than to sleep with your Trump-voting Elon Musk worshipping low IQ low status white male husband.

Explaining Elon Musk’s scams is a bit like setting up your own True Crime podcast at this point.
The point is, I’m a regular guy. When I talk to my friends, other low status white males, I have to hear them sing the praises of Elon Musk. It just frustrates me. They just can’t figure it out. “Well he delivers about half of what he promises.” Yeah sure. Bernie Madoff delivered about half of what he promised too: You just had to make sure you were not part of the half of investors who received none of what they were promised.
The fact that someone like Musk can become the richest man in the world on paper, just speaks volumes about the decay of our society. We have really reached the point where there are no corrective mechanisms left in place for fraud. Psychopaths now just have free roam in our society.
Imagine you live in a society where the economy grows 3% every year. People vote for a president, he promises it will continue to grow by 3%, he delivers on that promise and people re-elect him. At some point he recognizes problems are approaching, the aquifers are being depleted, the copper mines are running out of ores, there is no room left to build houses. So now he tells people that 3% growth per year can no longer be delivered, we will have to get used to a lower standard of living.
But the other candidate, tells everyone that the president is a fraud, that he has left everyone worse off, that he is working for a shady cabal of globalists. And unlike the president, he will continue to deliver 3% economic growth every year. What’s going to happen, is that most people will vote for the new candidate, who makes bigger promises.
That’s essentially what’s happening all around the world, at every level of society. We invest our money in companies that promise us the sky is the limit (Nvidia, Tesla). We vote for politicians who make promises they can’t deliver upon (Geert Wilders, Donald Trump). Psychopaths and grandiose narcissists are willing to make unrealistic promises. The realistic promises are promises we don’t like to hear. So we choose to give power to the psychopaths and grandiose narcissists.

Great point. Extolling the genius of Elon Musk is a perfect ‘tell’ for midwittery. Midwit status seekers assume that praising Elon Musk makes them seem a little bit smarter, when the opposite is true. It goes to show that everyone likes punching down, and, per the Dunning Kruger effect, they can’t really even imagine how higher IQ people think. So the 110 IQ guy feels superior to the 100 IQ guy “who hasn’t even been following the latest news about SpaceX.” And it never even occurs to the 110 IQ to wonder what the 120, 130, 140 IQ guys think of Elon Musk.
A few other amazing things about Elon Musk:
1) The claims about him are transparently laughable. He is supposedly the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Product Officer, Chief Engineering Officer, and Chief Marketing Officer of three or four different large corporations simultaneously. Meanwhile, he spends almost zero time on any of those jobs, spending most of his time tweeting, flying in his jet, or lounging in Brentwood, CA, far from any of the company offices or factories. Just in terms of “how many hours there are in a day,” the claims about him are silly. Someone tracked his private jet travel for a year or two, and let’s just say the claims of Elon “sleeping on factory floors” were completely false. He was almost never even AT a factory, much less overnight!
2) The promotion of him as a genius is completely ham-handed. He was simultaneously declared a genius on the cover of about 20 American magazines in the same summer years ago. This didn’t follow any particular accomplishment, it followed his hairplug surgery. It was just a PR campaign. An obvious one, but apparently a successful one.
3) Elon is one of VERY few people to have been a hero to BOTH the liberals and the conservatives. This almost never happens. It’s a tribute to: his successful scamminess, his fedgov backing, his appeal to status signallers (first on the left, then on the right), and the midwit susceptibility to easy beliefs that they think can confer status on them. (“Elon is a genius and you’re smart enough to recognize it!”)
Good summary. For some time, I’ve assumed that Elon is the frontman for some government faction (most likely intelligence or military) that wanted to accomplish some projects that they could only move forward if they were disguised as private companies.
How does one person run six big companies premised on cutting-edge tech, at least three of which have galvanized the popular imagination like few other companies anywhere? That’s the only plausible answer I can see.
I wonder if any of Elon’s alleged fortune is actually his.
Here’s the thing, there is NO political party in the western world that doesn’t make false promises. That’s how democracy works, you lie to the low status people and promise them as much as you can get away with until you’re elected; then you get glory and status and the opportunity to enrich yourself until the cycle starts over again. Just like how our economy is a scam, so is our political system.
