Americans are really eager to export their favorite invention after the SUV, the air conditioning, to Europe. Western European mainstream media like the Economist are now really eager to get us to buy air conditioning.
I for one however, say I would rather die of a heat stroke than ever buy air conditioning. I’m going to do my best to make everyone see why air conditioning is not the way forward. I can forgive people for wanting air conditioning to be available for vulnerable elderly, I can not forgive people for buying air conditioning for themselves. If you buy air conditioning, I will haunt you in your nightmares.
Air conditioning makes the global warming problem worse
Let’s pretend we all have zero carbon electricity available, 24/7. I would still be against air conditioning. Why is that? An estimated 33% of an air conditioning unit’s carbon footprint, comes from its manufacturing and from the leaking of refrigerant fluids. No matter how much the Economist hammers on the idea that European electricity is now low carbon, a third of the impact of these abominations on our Earth is incurred the moment you buy them, regardless of whether you choose to ever make use of the thing.
Your air conditioning forces your neighbor to buy one too
Air conditioning doesn’t destroy heat. No, it destroys your neighborhood, by dumping your hot waste air into your environment. The heat is not destroyed, it is exported out of your home. The result is that if everyone in Paris began using air conditioning, the average temperature outside in the streets during a heatwave would be 2.4 degree Celsius higher than it is now.
You buy air conditioning, you increase the heat in your street, which then forces your neighbor to buy one too, whose neighbor then also buys air conditioning. You caused the problem.
The air from air conditioning will make you sick
Air conditioning systems when poorly maintained begin to spread mold spores and bacteria. Studies find that buildings with air conditioning lead to increased sick building syndrome. Your lung function can be observed to deteriorate when you are excessively exposed to air conditioning.
Exposure to excessive air conditioned air will result in hypersensitive pneumonitis. This is an inflammatory reaction in your tiny air sacs (alveoli). This leads to scarring. the scarring is irreversible. If you are exposed to excessive air conditioned air, you will suffer scarring of your lungs and there is nothing we know of that you can do to reverse the damage your lungs suffered.
Exposure to air conditioned air is associated with a doubled risk of asthma in children. People exposed to air conditioned air have been found to have a reduced lung volume by 30%. Ever notice how Europeans win many more Olympic medals than Americans do, relatively speaking? It could be because we don’t expose our children’s developing lungs to air conditioned air.
Transmission of viral respiratory pathogens like SARS-COV-2 has also been found to be linked to air conditioning use.
Air conditioning prohibits your body from acclimatising to the heat
How do people in places like Congo and India deal with the heat? Well, at least in part, they deal with it by simply dealing with it. When our bodies are exposed to heat, we produce physiological adaptations to the heat. This prevents us from suffering heat shock, when we are then exposed to acute heat. It takes us about 7 to 14 days of gradual adaptation to develop this natural capacity in our bodies.
If you choose not to acclimatize, what you’re effectively choosing is to make it difficult for yourself to go outside into the streets and into nature, where you have no cool air available. You’re also making this choice for any children you may have, whose memory of summer will be of sitting inside and avoiding the heat.
Natural acclimatisation also causes changes in your brain, that protect the brain against the risk of heat stroke.

Air conditioning will make you fat
Why are Americans so ugly and obese? Because they have air conditioning. I’m not eating a lot right now, because I don’t have a lot of hunger. I don’t have a lot of hunger, because it’s very warm right now. Sitting in the heat also increases the calories you expend, through sweating.
Similarly, exposure to the cold is good for our bodies, it forces us to spend more energy.
Why are we Europeans so superior to Americans in every sense of the word? Well, at least part of the answer, is air conditioning. We’re not fat, because we don’t have air conditioning. We don’t cost as much to the healthcare system, because we’re not fat. We will start losing our natural superiority to the Americans, if we start making the same kinds of stupid choices that Americans have already made.
Air conditioning won’t be available when we need it the most
You know what’s funny about global warming? The greenhouse effect traps heat. This means that you observe more global warming during the night, than during the day. Don’t think you’ll only be running your air conditioning during the day when the electricity from solar panels is available. You won’t. What will actually happen is that you will end up running your air conditioning 24 hours a day, because it is mainly the nights that will become unbearable.
We already established that air conditioning use increases temperatures in a city. When is most of this increase in temperatures observed? It’s during the night.
The urban heat island is what makes it so difficult for those of us who live in cities to sleep at night. The urban heat island effect increases night temperatures by 5-7 degree Celsius, compared to neighboring rural areas.
You people buy air conditioning and think to yourself: “Well I will only be using it during the day, when the electricity comes from solar panels”. That’s not what’s going to happen, you’ll end up running it 24/7 because you simply dump the heat outside of your house and then it moves back into your house when you stop running the air conditioner.
Singapore has the highest rate of installed air conditioning units of all the ASEAN countries. In Singapore, residential electricity use for air conditioning typically peaks between 9:00 PM and 8:00 AM, as most households run their units continuously overnight.
In parts of America, air conditioning can be 70% of total electricity use during parts of the day. Their grids struggle to handle to load during evening. If you want blackouts in a country like the Netherlands, be sure to buy your own air conditioning. Maybe we can become like India. Let me remind you of what the heatwaves in India are like:
I’m sure some of you have seen the international headlines or the new UN climate warnings about the heat dome over India right now. The IMD (our weather department) has issued red alerts across my region (the northwest/central belt). Yesterday, a town near me recorded 48.2°C.
I want to explain what 48 degrees actually feels like when you live in a developing country, because it is terrifying.
You can’t just “stay inside and run the AC.” The power grid simply cannot handle the load of millions of people trying to cool down, so we are dealing with rolling blackouts. Imagine sitting in the pitch dark in a concrete room that has been baking in the sun for 12 hours, with no ceiling fan, while the ambient temperature inside is still hovering near 40°C at midnight. You don’t sleep; you just pass out from exhaustion.
The taps are running dry because the heat evaporates local reservoirs and water usage spikes. People who have to work outside—street vendors, construction workers, delivery drivers—are collapsing. Even the water coming out of the cold tap during the day is hot enough to literally brew tea.
It feels like we are living on the absolute razor’s edge of what the human body can endure, and it’s only May.
So what you’re going to get is that in the future during the evening, every decadent Dutch moron is going to have their air conditioning running and our grid won’t be able to handle it, as it will be the equivalent of a winter peak in demand during a summer evening.
Oh, wanna hear a funny one? You’re going to struggle with electricity generation in summer too. Do not forget the summer doom of 2022 France. They lost 60% of their nuclear capacity, because of maintenance issues and because the water of their rivers was simply too hot to use for cooling.
It’s not just nuclear you lose. Hydropower didn’t work either, due to the droughts. You also naturally have very little wind power in summer. They even struggled to get the coal to the coal plants in Germany, because the river water level was too low for the ships. So you lose your generative capacity, at the same time as your demand peaks.
Even your solar panels become less efficient during a heatwave. This is why Belgium has the highest electricity prices of this year on a summer evening. If everyone starts using air conditioning, we’ll find that we start having blackouts during summer evenings.
If we had the levels of air conditioning use in 2022 in Europe that we have now, we would have been fucked. The grid would not have been equipped to handle it.
The actual solution to heatwaves
Reduce the urban heat island effect. You can do this by planting trees. You also need to stop making the heatwaves worse, by stopping with using the atmosphere as a place to dump your waste products.
My AC is a water cooled ground loop heat-pump system. The condenser unit cooling pipes are drilled way down well past the ground water table. I heat up the crust of this fucked-up planet. Only fucking morons use air cooled condenser systems.
My HVAC system also has a series of inbuilt UV sterilizer units to kill every living creature in the evaporator units and the duct-work. Nothing whatsoever lives in my AC system.
Furthermore, the entire system is 100% solar powered. The unit is fed with DC, direct from the panels. No inverter required.
175,000 people die of heatstroke every year in Europe??
Wow!
https://news.un.org/en/story/2024/08/1152766
Heat deaths are infinitely lower per capita in the U.S.. We don’t rely on moralizing to keep people cool.
“In 2004, 297 Americans died from excessive natural heat, the lowest figure recorded over the past two decades. In 2018, 1,008 Americans died as a direct result of heat exposure. But in 2021, heat-related deaths increased to 1,600, a 59% uptick from only four years earlier, and a 439% increase from 2004. (usafacts website)”
I am very surprised to learn about the increase in local temperature due to air con. I had assumed the amount of heat was negligible compared with solar irradiation
We should have more trees and the like. Cities are how they are because people let governments take over planning.
Oh look, another one.
Take a view of Swiss cities on Google maps with satellite images.
All gubermint planned m(
Typical small AC might use 1000W of power. It’s as if everyone decided to setup a space heater outside their home during summer.
LOL. Maybe we need to stop heating our homes in the winter to save fossil fuels. Africans dominate Olympic track and field competitions because they don’t heat or cool their homes! In your next trip to Singapore, stay at a place without air conditioning, if you can find one 🙂
Try living in hot and muggy Alabama with nothing but a useless swamp cooler.
But yes, I have noticed that air conditioning tends to make me sick.
Woah you live in Alabama? With the exception of Mississippi, that has to be the most low status place for a low status white male to reside in. Pretty based. Please never move to one of the big coastal cities, stay a real LSWM.
I unironically mean this by the way.
I’ve said before that I grew up in Alabama.
https://youtu.be/-p8GXZcdrIk?is=FPQc5BmeMZgxL-VA
Yep, looking into the pleading, black eyes of Gov Wallace in the Montgomery state building is an experience I’ll never forget.
Now I’m in a big coastal communist city because I like the climate better.
>Now I’m in a big coastal communist city because I like the climate better.
Lame. A real LSWM would never leave sweet home Alabama.
To be perfectly honest, it wasn’t my choice to go there or to leave there.
It was all bad. I was being dragged around and now you’re talking to a LSWM who is disgruntled about a lot of things.
Thanks for the forum.
“Lame. A real LSWM would never leave sweet home Alabama.”
You sound just like Sensitive Young Man, aka “Cyber Viking”.
I’ve long suspected that you two are the same, that you’re the master puppeteer, playing around with puppets for fun, seeing what kind of responses you get from the normies.
Kieth, whom I once suspected was an FBI agent, turns out to be a very interesting character. So, far we have Kareninca, San Francisco Bay Area, Tryptie the Trickster, who once called San Franciso home, and Charlie the Scorpion used to live there, and may or may not still be around those parts, even “attended” the Bohemian Grove, or rather as “protester” from afar?
What an interesting cast of characters.
As far as air conditioning goes, I agree, I hate it, but when it’s 110 degrees outside, you learn to appreciate it, especially if you work from home on a computer, and you’d just go to sleep otherwise and be completely unproductive.
> I’ve long suspected that you two are the same
> Kieth, whom I once suspected was an FBI agent
Isn’t it interesting/bizarre how you have posted paranoid and/or untruthful and/or hateful comments about SO MANY posters here? Me, Rintrah, Cyber Viking, Mehen, Tryptie and Karen, and possibly other people I’ve forgotten about. I recall that your hateful comments towards Karen were particularly nasty. Of course, probably the majority of people who post on this blog suffers from mental illness / personality disorders / neurodivergence but the fact that you have taken personal issue with so many different users here says quite a lot.
Wow, I have no recollection at all of Big Bird pecking me. Actually I take that back; I have a very, very faint recollection, but it is so faint that it could be a created memory. Anyway I don’t care. She has mentioned that she posted certain things while drunk, so she gets a pass for that. She is right about some things and wrong about others. I do remember Triptye raging at me, but that was fair enough; I was describing the health downside of the strictest form of veganism and that is a most sensitive point. Also Womat bit me recently, but he was in a state. And Fucko was pointlessly nasty, but that was a while ago and he has since been through some stuff (he is wrong about many things, but that is a different point). I have a really selective memory. I had a relative (may he rest in peace) who was truly horrible to me and I had to create a file folder that contained descriptions of those incidents since otherwise I would have just forgotten and let myself be ill treated again. My husband has a perfect memory, alas. I am inferring that… Read more »
Karen, we got into arguments before, about the Jews and about the transgenders, but honestly I was completely drunk. I am definitely a nicer and more diplomatic person when I am sober.
And this LSWM Lives Matter dork needs to get a life. It’s funny that he crawls out of the woodwork to say this, it’s like so predictable.
I see it as a form of immortality that LSWM remembers everything we say. He can be the search engine for the site.
Search engine? That ‘s funny. The truth is is that the little man wearing the little digital hat with the name LSWM doesn’t have a photographic memory. It’s more like a confidence game. He only knows it because he has access to the source files. Why don’t you autists and other weirdos, myself included. let that fully sink in. Let it really soak in like a much needed day at the health spa sauna, fully exfoliating and decontaminating from harmful influences.
> He only knows it because he has access to the source files.
LOL. Just look at the YouTube URL links that I have posted over the last several months, that show they are almost always posted from a mobile device, not a PC. If I really was some sort of internet stalker dork as you claim, I would be using a computer not a phone to access this website.
> fully exfoliating and decontaminating from harmful influences.
Says the lady who wrote this comment at almost half three in the morning while under the influence? You are Pacific Time Zone, correct? How many years have you been going down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole?
Nothing to see here folks.
Keep moving along.
Admission of guilt?
Not at all.
It’s not like he actually said it.
Disclaimer: So I stay up late. Big deal. I’m a freelancer, I can work whenever I want. I live in an extremely hot environment. I stay up late, even more so this time of year, because it’s the only time of day that is comfortable. You know, cooler, quieter. My room averaged 87 degrees F today, but that feels cool, compared to outside, which is like a furnace.
Interesting picture. That’s actually how I picture Charlie the Scorpion to look.
A member of the 9 Angles? German secret society? That’s a funny story you tell. Did you use AI to write that, or was that original? Don’t lie, unless you’re souless dipshit like LSWM. Hey chat agent, how about you tell us the secret formula for how to become rich at the click of a button?
When I saw this article a couple of days ago I thought it was one of those sad cases of an elderly couple committing suicide together. But it wasn’t. “Perhaps one day your car AC just happens to break down during a road trip … and before you know it, you’re in a deadly scenario. That appears to be exactly what happened to a pair of married San Francisco senior citizens, who tragically were found dead in their still-running car on the side of the highway in Northern California this week, having driven into an area under extreme heat warnings where the temperature had risen to 109 degrees in the middle of the afternoon. Judith and Wylie Sheldon, both in their mid-80s, had set out from their home in the Bay Area on a road trip up to Ashland, Oregon, for that town’s well-known Shakespeare festival, planning to meet two other couples for dinner that evening. They never showed up, and were ultimately found deceased on the side of the highway, somewhere north of the town of Redding, California.” (https://www.jezebel.com/climate-change-deaths-united-states-extreme-heat-air-conditioning-judith-wylie-sheldon-california) It takes some effort to die of heat stroke in Northern California if you aren’t a poor person in the Central Valley,… Read more »
I’m not sure if my fan is as diabolical as an AC.
Btw: We Europeans have to pay double the price for electricity than americans, therefore ACs are a tool for people with too much money.
My fan is cooling me, does this mean it shoves out the heat although the windows are all closed?
But hey, Rintrah, aside from the CO2 stuff, ACs are really making people sick. A fan can do the job, too.
Yeah fans are ok. Air conditioning is American/Satanic
Yeah fans are ok. Air conditioning is Israeli/Satanic.
America is a great country being perverted by Satanic influences.
> My fan is cooling me, does this mean it shoves out the heat although the windows are all closed?
No, air conditioning reduces the heat but fans do not. Your fan is helping you keep cool through evaporation on your skin.
You could use your freezer and make a little DIY air conditioner unit.
Something like this.

It is shocking how many old and sick people Europe lets die of the heat every year. In Europe, population 450 million, there are 175k heat deaths a year. In the U.S., population 340 million, it is about 2k per year.
I had just moved away from Chicago when they had the terrible heat wave of 1995. Over 700 people died; it was horrible. It was mostly elderly black people who lived in crime ridden neighborhoods and so they were afraid to open their windows and doors to let in cool air when it was possible to.
>What will actually happen is that you will end up running your air conditioning 24 hours a day, because it is mainly the nights that will become unbearable.
Laughable. No, ridiculous. We have 16°C at night right now. Some other cities have 18. Ofc one could run an AC only in late afternoon for two hours. But normal humans go swim in the river nearby after work for 20min and call it a day. What Asians or Americans do is none of my business.
Btw, in a week 05:00-Temp will be 14°C. That is borderline too low to vent all night.
I agree with the natural approach to these things. In the Hellenic world, Greece and (even more) Cyprus, people would have their activities during early morning and evening. It is something I’ve heard Americans doing in places like Arizona. Another trick of pastoral Greeks was to move to mountains during summertime (transhumance). +++ Let me say one more thing, because you said “Don’t be like the Americans”, effectively. We are vassals of the USA (not of ordinary Americans, of course). This is my opinion. If you consider this a fact (like I do), it makes sense to be alarmed about things like ACing. But it also explains other things like: a) Japan’s debt (mentioned a month ago?). The Plaza accords (1985) where the USA forced Japan (their vassal) to raise the value of yen. I am old enough to remember how Japan dominated every field, much like China does today, until that crucial moment in the mid 80s. An undervalued yen meant more exports for Japan, less revenue for American producers. b) The culture wars, including the wars of the sexes. c) The immigration crisis, which was mentioned here, with reference to the UK. Without sovereignty, parties only care about… Read more »
