I don’t want to have to share misery every time, I want to share some funny stuff today.
Honestly, I mostly just want to stir up the stew of ideas that is your brain.
So here’s something funny.
I always post stuff from this guy, but there’s just something strangely attractive about his work. Somehow you just get hooked to certain people and there’s nothing you can do about it. Jreg has that effect on me too, I probably have it on some of you. Of course, the main reason is because he wrote my anthem:
So yeah, basically the idea is, they book a room at a very cheap motel and they start inspecting whether it’s clean or not (of course it isn’t). Honestly the nicest part is generally the reviews at the start. Of course halfway through the video they’re generally drunk. People complain about some episodes that they’re too drunk to do the job and honestly those are my favorite episodes.
Some of you may wonder, why I don’t post a lot lately, but I’m physically (as in *gasp* not on one of the black mirrors) working on one of my little hobby projects, that I hope to show all of you eventually.
It’s just not good to fill your mind with endless negative stuff you find through the black mirrors, even though that’s the most straightforward thing to do.
So many of your posts are amazing and so eloquently expressed, and I’m especially interested in your virus research, but I don’t understand your weird taste in music and videos at all.
Just heard that the population of Rotterdam is now 60% foreign migrants?! WTF? Is that true?
And the authorities are gearing up to to inject the world population with more crazy mRNA, this time to protect us against bird flu.
Ever since Donald Trump rode down the escalator in 2015 the news has been unbelievable. Historic times!
I was just watching the Chief of Staff for Francis Collins testify before Congress. These liars are infuriating. ?
Looks like maybe Great Britain will kick off into civil war before the US.
“Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold…”
I really enjoy movies which feature scenes set in motels in flyover country i.e. the “American heartland” or “Middle America”, something really special about it.
Some good examples would be “No Country For Old Men” and “The Mule”.
Somewhat off-topic but you’ve written a few times about how the late 90’s was the peak of human society, here’s a good video that delves into that topic:

Since you mentioned No Country, do you remember the scene that implied that Anton Chigur was a ghost, or non-entity, or something? It was near the end: he appears to be behind a door, but is not there when Sheriff Bell flings it open. Curious as to any thoughts from others who have watched this movie many times.
I could never come up with an alternate explanation. It seemed cut and dried that something deliberately didn’t add up. Fun thing for a LSWM to contemplate.
Yeah I remember that scene, here’s a good explanation from Reddit that makes sense:
“Chigurh is long gone by the time he gets there. Its not his imagination so much as it is the filmmakers showing us his anxiety. The whole scene takes great pains to show you that. He hesitates getting out of the car. He hesitates at the door. True HE doesnt know what Chigurh looks like, but WE do. They show us him there, to show us what Bell is thinking/fearing. When he finally does open the door, they deliberately show it hit the wall, so you know Chigurh isn’t back there. At this point, as an audience, we don’t know if he was there, and escaped out the back. Which is exactly what Bell thinks, then he goes to the bathroom and finds the window closed and locked from the inside. Chigurh and Bell weren’t there at the same time. The whole scene is what leads to the payoff at the end with Bell wanting to retire. This scared the living shit out of him, and he realizes he can’t do this job anymore. Not if this is what he’s going to be facing.”

Apparently in the Cormac McCarthy book, Anton is sitting in his car parked on the street outside the motel, watches the Sheriff enter and eventually leave, then goes in himself to look for the briefcase/satchel full of money. But in the movie adaptation, the Coen brothers changed that part of the plot slightly to add more suspense to the scene.
I must watch True Grit, also directed by the Coen brothers.
The book is very good tbh One of Cormac’s more ‘readable’ books although I do love most of his stuff it can get quite tiresome.
In 1981 I went with a friend on a road trip from New England to Florida and on the way back we stayed in a $5/per night motel in the woods of South Carolina. Another Dirty room brings back fond memories. I remember looking at the bed and realizing that for $5 per night the owners couldn’t really afford to wash the sheets. I just didn’t look too closely and didn’t catch anything. They got so few customers that I think the bugs died between feeding opportunities.
You got me watching Jreg now, I like his videos about male and female archetypes and Autizmophrenia.
Thanks for this, the links really cracked me up 🙂
I once booked a room in this ‘Ecotel’ for me and my woman and our toddler and newborn – ha, ha, ha!
We should’ve immediately left upon seeing the fly swatters and sprays left all around the place 🙂
It was made worse because the toddler could get into and chew on everything, and we didn’t want the newborn to get Dengue 🙂
