Something wholesome for once

So, the low IQ revolution in the US of A has me down. You might say “what do you care about what’s going on in some other country”. Well, that’s what Dutch people thought in 1939. I’ve read the accounts, how people would meet in the grocery store and say “oh we’ll escape this war, we didn’t get involved in the previous one either”. We all know how that ended.

But I’m basically powerless to do anything about it. So I try to focus on some more uplifting stuff. And here is something nice. The best part of the Netherlands is definitely not Rotterdam or Amsterdam. The best part of the Netherlands, is Gelderland. There’s a series the provincial broadcaster made, about the traditions and customs of Gelderland:

If you speak Dutch I really recommend it. When you look at this, you see how life is supposed to look. People work with their hands, music is made with acoustic guitars and violins, there are castles everywhere.

But of course, nobody sees this. They did about 30 episodes of this. After eight years, the average episode now has 1000 views. There are Dutch Youtubers who rack up a hundred thousand views in a day, with some shitty “ghost hunting” video, because that’s what the algorithm peddles to people.

I wish people would understand: Anything the tech billionaires control is something designed to drain you of your life energy, to leave you feeling angry and hopeless. If you’re not careful, you would spend your whole evening reading about “ELON MUSK” and then when you talk to your friends, other LSWMs, it would be about “ELON MUSK”. Did he say something? Did he play a video game? Did he take a shit? Do you support him taking a shit, or is it bad? Is the woke mainstream media lying about the smell of his shit?

Whatever you give attention grows.

  1. You have an obsession with Elon Musk, and it colors everything you experience. I go to youtube and see cooking lessons, golf lessons and music. I have literally never seen a video about your nemesis or any other billionaire. Nor have I seen ghost stories. You must go looking for this.

It’s sad that you are depressed all the time. It’s sad that nobody cares about your little village, where people wear cute little wooden shoes.

  2. That was very nice. The language barrier, was not a barrier. Old Sturbridge Village in the U.S. is the American equivalent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzCot1vECtI. It is 200 acres and the setting is after the Revolutionary War and before the horrible Civil War, so it was a much more innocent time, at least in New England. The landscape was so beautiful at that time; If it weren’t for dental care I wish I could have lived then.
(don’t worry the lady who shows up at the beginning to introduce it quickly disappears)

  3. Ratty, I suggested to you a couple of years ago, learn an instrument like an acoustic guitar. Would have done you some good. Probably not too late, but you are deteriorating metaphysically.

    • In an odd synchronicity I was intending to offer pretty much the same advice after having finished reading this post.

Learn an instrument Rad; something easily portable, such as a ukulele, harmonica or penny whistle. Learn some melancholy songs (John Dowland’s compositions hit this spot) and when you give yourself over to the music God will send His Spirit and She will begin to heal you.

      • Yeah this seems to be the solution most of humanity settles on: Just distract yourself from reality with some hobby. It’s just not how my mind functions and never has been.

        • Yeah, you’re right. If you are incapable of understanding that a musical instrument can be used to create, you’re better off not attempting to distract yourself.

    • Radagast’s foundation in Immunology is demonstrably strong. It seems to withstand an evident and current depletion of sensibilities in other areas. I say this caring deeply for Radagast, who has brought much joy and lively and deep thought to my life through this blog (as have you all) 🙂

I don’t know even 1% of your situation, Radagast, so I’m careful to add my 2 cents, but I know that psycho-altering drugs are not a good idea in general.

  4. A problem with saying the “low IQ revolution in the USA” is that it’s not only a simplification of a complex issue, but it’s false. The Trump revolution spans all IQ scores. I know this to be a fact. Generalizations and models can serve a purpose but they should provide additional clarity. Maybe I’m missing what your definition of this is, Radagast. You may have written of it already. Can you re-hash what you mean by it.

    • Rintrah is very emotional. The “low IQ” accusation is an emotional flailing. He is worried about animals and the Netherlands and terribly poor people overseas. The question for him is whether Trump and the oligarchs are good for those victims of fate, not whether they serve the purposes of some percentage of the American population.
