Stuff Low Status White Males Like: The End of the World

Since there have been low status white males, there have been end of the world prophecies. The most famous low status white male, a rabbi known as Yeshua -now said to be dwelling in boiling excrement by his detractors- notoriously told his followers that among their generation would be those who would see the end of the world before they would pass away.

The failure of the prophecy did not lead to the end of his status as a revered prophet, but rather, rapidly gave rise to a new religion that continues to hold sway around the world today. Christians is what they are called and among them are many who continue to believe in end of the world prophecies. It’s often even possible to launch a new successful Christian movement, simply by coming up with new end of the world prophecies that subsequently fail to come to fruition. The Jehovah’s witnesses have been quite successful at this.

This is the mesmerizing part of apocalypse prophecies: Their failure to come to fruition oftentimes simply results in further growth in the movement that peddled these prophecies. This was first noticed by social psychologists in the 1950’s. If a belief plays a big enough role in your life, then you find yourself unable to abandon it, even after it fails to come to fruition. Instead, you’ll seek to convert other people to your belief, because their belief then becomes validation that you must have been right all along.

Every end of the world prophecy seems to suffer from this phenomenon. Recently the AI doomers, who prophesied that Artificial Intelligence would take over the US Government by 2027, delayed their prophecy to 2030. This doesn’t seem to cause people to reevaluate the belief, but rather, people tend to double down and become even more convinced the world is about to end due to artificial intelligence.

It would be a mistake to conclude that civilization can’t collapse, because history tells us these things do in fact happen. Sometimes an evil empire just suddenly collapses, like happened to the Soviet Union. Sometimes half the population just drops dead from disease as villages are swallowed by nature, as happened during the Black Death in Europe and in America upon Columbian contact.

But I think it’s worth noting what Lacan said:

If you didn’t know that it will all end one day, how could you bear the burden of life?

What happens to low status white males when they can’t maintain faith in their own doomsday prophecies anymore? Well, there was a notorious example, a man called Michael C. Ruppert. He checks basically every low status white male box: 9/11 Truther, Peak Oil theorist, enemy of the CIA after exposing their drug-trafficking shenanigans and founder of a rock band called “New White Trash” (I didn’t make this up).

In 2009 he was the subject of a documentary called Collapse, about the imminent end of the world as a result of peak oil. We all know how that ended up working out. Americans today are driving around in SUVs, oil is 55 dollars a barrel and the IEA now projects that demand will peak before the supply will peak.

But Mr. Ruppert is no stupid man, make no mistake. He is certainly an archetypal low status white male, but not a low IQ low status white male. You might say he was an optimistic man. The most horrifying scenario, was the alternative to the peak oil catastrophe he prophesied. He explained it in part four of the documentary Apocalypse, Man.

The alternative to peak oil you see, is climate collapse. It’s humans taking the whole biosphere down with us, as we destroy the environmental conditions we and the other species on this good Earth require to survive. In a sense I have more respect for the low IQ low status white males who deny climate change with their poor arguments, than I do for the people who know about the problem but seem unaffected by it.

Back in Mr. Ruppert’s days, there was still hope that we would simply be forced to stop by nature, by finding our oil fields empty. Today that hope is mostly gone. I continue to cling onto that hope however, that nature will force us to stop. I like to think the pandemic viruses infecting our species these days will stop us during the years ahead from generating a dinosaur atmosphere. I could be wrong of course. But tell me, how is a man supposed to live without hope?

If any are interested, research “preterism”, partial or full. I’m partial to “partial”. The joke may be on all of us, not just LSWMs. Also could check out “aeion”, often translated as “world”.
So happy you’re writing again, and hopefully doing well. Thanks

The end of the world will look a lot more like ergo proxy. The omnipresent AI assistants using manipulation to lead humanity to orthodox alignment, the blocked sun leading to climate apocalypse, the elites escaping into space while their sub elite lapdogs run domed cities full of brainwashed obedient consoomers, all of that seems far more likely and I can stack evidence of that trajectory.

Charlie the Scorpion

I was at a small gathering in California approximately 2005 where I met Michael Ruppert. His presentation I thought was very impressive, better than Greg Palast, who i was more interested in hearing from. Palast was disjointed but Ruppert was very smooth. Big head, big brain, clearly very intelligent, thoughtful and well spoken.
At the time I was furious at the GOP and a believer in Peak Oil.

LSWM Lives Matter

Charlie, how can you possibly continue to support Trump now that he has turned against Thomas Massie and MTG?

Charlie the Scorpion

LSWM Lives Matter, I support Trump because he is the massive COURSE CORRECTION crucial and necessary for the USA at this point in history. (And Europe! Are you listening over there in the Netherlands?)
The political left have lost their bearings and their damn minds; gone around the bend, plunged off the deep end, off their rockers with their ludicrous agitprop for “gender affirming surgery” for children, their relentless support for illegal invading foreigners, their refusal to jail violent criminals, their stupid support of the evil cult of Islam, on and on.
Trump is a TRANSFORMATIONAL president and exactly what we needed.
I can’t vote for Trump again for a 3rd term or MTG because she is retiring from politics. (I watched her on TYT recently, where they LOVED her hostility to Israel.)
I have great respect for Thomas Massie and i would vote for him in a primary regardless of Trump’s choice if i had that option.

Politics is not about purity.
What so many people don’t understand is that “Politics is war without bloodshed, and war is politics with bloodshed”.

Charlie the Scorpion

I support Trump because he is our MIDDLE FINGER directed at the establishment and he’s truly at war with the Deep State, amazingly successfully!
Jeb Bush after being trounced by Trump in 2016 told his backers “I ran into a storm.”
That he did.
Trump is a force of nature, just an incredible politician.

I’m an American who didn’t vote in the last presidential election, but I was definitely leaning towards Trump, but now I realize that he is just another actor who sold his soul on the crossroads like all the rest.

“notoriously told his followers that among their generation would be those who would see the end of the world before they would pass away” (“the failure of the prophecy”)

What I would infer from that is that they are still alive. Prove me wrong.

(To be serious,, I in fact believe that they did see the end of the world spiritually (rather than physically) before their physical deaths, and that they did then physically pass away. Too many people read the Holy Scriptures literally rather than spiritually. Christ is within us; He is our hope of glory; we are in heaven and/or hell now, depending on whether we listen to His voice and do His will.)

kareninca

Despite my religiosity I would not advise joining His Way Spirit Led Assemblies and their preparations for end times, or if you do join and then leave the organization, do NOT set up a pest control company that competes with theirs; that may be materially fatal.

Karen, I’d like to hear more about dog cloning. You are a multimillionaire who has had your beloved old dog cloned three times at $50,000 a pop??
Am I remembering correctly?
Are you satisfied with the service?
Does it seem like the same dog or is it different due to environmental differences in its maturation?

kareninca

I did not say that I am a multimillionaire. Cloning a dog costs $297 a month FFS, if the dog makes it to 14. Less than the lease on a Kia, and we only own one car (a ratty Honda Civic). Since we got two for the price of one this time (that’s how it works if the procedure produces more than one puppy) they are $150 a month each, if you want to see it as an expense.

Same dog, very different upbringing (different food, different vaccination schedule, different dog companionship, different approach to spaying). This wasn’t my idea anyway; it was my husband’s and I couldn’t talk him out of it. The original dog was a rescue and I would have gone for another rescue. Still, she is a wonderful dog (now doubled).

Big Bird

I think cloning is creepy and demonic, and when I think of people cloning their pets I think of Stephen King’s Pet Cemetery.

kareninca

I have a family friend who is desperately poor, whose hovel is falling apart, who just spent $3,500 on an English bulldog puppy that can barely function as a living creature due to its inbreeding. Someone shows up once a week to take her payment for the puppy. Human beings are not rational about affection; maybe that is just as well; at least there is affection.

Big Bird

I think cloning is creepy and demonic, and when I think of people cloning their pets I think of Stephen King’s Pet Cemetery. Imagine cloning your parents or grandparents when they die and how sick and twisted that would be? Doing that with a pet suggests a failure of letting go, of trying to resist reality and forcing it to be something its not as a sort of mockery toward all that is holy.

Charlie the Scorpion

297 a month for 14 years equals $50,000 and I’ve heard elsewhere it’s about $50,000.
I’m not horrified by it, I think it’s pretty amazing, but only something wealthy people can do.
I remember Dolly the cloned sheep that was feeble but the results are now more robust. There have probably already been human beans cloned by now that they haven’t told us about.

kareninca

I’m sure there are loads of cloned humans we haven’t heard about. Plus people who have their own or their kids’ tissue stored for cloning, in case of an accident (tissue storage is not expensive at all). Any person who lost a kid to death would accept a clone in a second as a way of handling the loss.

Almost everyone I know who owns two cars doesn’t need to own two cars. Or else people who eat out (we don’t eat out). Or people who travel for pleasure (we don’t.) All of those people could afford to clone a pet. I am certainly not saying that people should clone pets; I’m just saying that middle class people can afford this if it is their priority. People have different priorities, and some get excited by the particular expenditures of other people. If we had bought a condo that cost an extra 50k no-one would bat an eye; it would be seen as normal to want to get the condo with the better sunlight; I wouldn’t be hearing “omg you spent an extra 50k on your home!”

Diogenes

Quote: “… and we only own one car (a ratty Honda Civic).”

That’s what Sam Bankman-Fried told, too.

Jon

The destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple, with a Holocaust-like slaughter, and accompanied by weird signs and wonders (see Josephus) occurred in 70AD, within a generation, but before the death of John. So a combination of spiritual and physical events, and the end of an age.

Solid

There are many things in life where you know something must happen but cannot predict the timing. Financial markets being the canonical example. Peak oil will happen, but it will happen later than originally predicted.

New discoveries have slowed down a lot. Our reserves will keep us going for a while, but I speculate that in 30 years everybody will agree that peak diesel has happened and our industrial civilization will be permanently contracting. But as I just said, predicting the timing is a fool’s game. (I don’t deny being a fool.)

I think we are in a position to predict peak copper with more certainty. New copper discoveries have slowed down even faster, and we’re down to mining rocks that are 0.6% copper. Crushing all that rock takes a lot of diesel. We can confidently predict that the all-electric vehicle world the EU functionaries envision will never happen; it is literally impossible to mine enough copper.

mulga mumblebrain

So, replace the copper-leave it to the Chinese and don’t fret (or celebrate).

Tee hee

Diogenes

It’s not magnetic poleshift, it’S “true polar wander”, like TES calls it.

When it happens, the new North-Pole will be near South-Afrika, because the whole mantle of Earth moves South-Africa to the position of the North-Pole.

New convincing evidence he found is, that many monuments of this era are oriented to South-Africa, because there was the North-Pole for a while.

You gotta love how Dunning-Krugerites, with ‘arguments’ that don’t pass the laugh test, always claim intellectual superiority. It’s hilarious, if banal. Feeds their gigantic egomania.

mulga mumblebrain

It is so far past the point of no return to climate destabilisation caused mass extinction that still talking of averting that cataclysm, somehow, is simply insane. CO2 is still increasing, at increasing rate, methane is increasing at ‘end glaciation’ rates (without a glaciation) thanks to tropical wet-lands, rice paddies and ‘fugitive’ emissions from millions of fracked wells, nitrous oxide is booming as the nitrogen cycle is disrupted.
The planet’s albedo is the lowest ever recorded, and increasing as ice disappears from montane glaciers, sea ice etc, the tropical forests have switched from carbon sinks to carbon sources, as have temperate soils, permafrost is melting releasing methane and CO2 and bio-mass to be chewed up by micro-organism releasing more of the same etc.And still we pretend that ‘Such and such..’ small change will occur, by 2100!!!!!!! What a pity.

Harrold

If you prefer real science, rather than religious dogma, try the ethical skeptic blog. He shows how the wandering magnetic pole has destroyed the planet every 6000 years or so. It’s all in the geological record, if you care to look at it.

He also goes thru all the possible causes of global warming and concludes 2/3 of it is caused by volcanic under the oceans. This ties in with the magnetic wander, which possibly started over 100 years ago. Coming to a conclusion in the next few decades???

There’s an implicit rule here and on most forums (where it’s even worse usually) that you can say whatever you want as long as you have the correct opinions. If any of us on the right or even moderate left were to spam the comments with lazy schizo garbage, let alone post our own porno fetishes in public, we would get instantly banned. It is a lot harder in rural areas. I grew up in a small town area in bad economic times and that was grim enough; people fought over getting work hours at the McDonald’s in the nearest slightly larger town. And it is harder for males than for females; with primates the males are more likely to stick around with their group of origin while the females head off; that is how it works with humans, too; small towns are full of guys who stuck around while the young women left for opportunity. It is just more hazardous out there for males; that is counterintuitive but true. So, the reason the guy who hired you hasn’t hired you to do more is because you are taking drugs. People where you are have limited resources; they can’t spend and spend. They will try with you but they will give up financially if you keep taking drugs. Your church people will not give up on you spiritually, and people won’t give up on you socially, but they can’t give you money; they don’t have the money to do that unless you are functional. If you are drug free for a while they… Read more »
